Binge-eating disorder is a serious condition characterized by an inability to stop eating and frequently consuming much larger amounts of food than usual.
While occasional overeating, such as having seconds or thirds at a holiday meal, is common, regularly feeling out of control with eating and consuming unusually large quantities of food may indicate binge-eating disorder.
Individuals with binge-eating disorder often experience feelings of embarrassment or shame about their eating habits. They may attempt to restrict or severely cut back on their eating, but this can increase the urge to binge and perpetuate a cycle of binge eating. Treatment for binge-eating disorder can help individuals regain control and achieve a balanced approach to eating.
Our clinical studies for Binge Eating Disorder (BED) are overseen by the FDA and aim to determine the effectiveness of investigational medications in volunteers with BED. Eligible candidates will receive, at no cost, study-related evaluation, care and medication. Payment is available for those who qualify and participate. Studies vary, but typically require visits every 2-4 weeks to the office over 3 months. All visits are conducted at our office in a comfortable and professional setting.
